Having long been a concert finisher favourite for brass bands, this movement from Respighi’s Pines of Rome is now available for large brass ensemble. This final movement portrays pine trees along the Appian Way as a great Roman army advances into the city. Beginning quietly during a misty dawn, the piece gradually grows to a triumphant finish as the radiant sun rises.
Trumpet 1, Trumpet 2 and Horn 1 are rather taxing and may benefit from having the parts doubled.
