Tomás Luis de Victoria (sc. 1548 – 27 August 1611) was one of 16th-century Spain’s most important composers. He was also a priest, and devoted himself to writing sacred music almost exclusively. This is a short choral piece with the religious text ‘Ecce sacerdos magnus, qui in diebus suis, placuit Deo, et inventus est iustus‘ (‘behold the great priest, who in his days, pleased God, and has been found just’).
